ATTENTION LOCAL 102 MEMBERS - (6/12/2008)

We have been given information regarding new security requirements under the Maritime Transportation Security Act for any facilities that have access to shipping ports and vessels. We been advised that effective September 1, 2008 the Infinium  / Tosco / Bayway Refinery site will require all people who work on the site to have  valid  Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC). The process of getting registered takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks and the cost is $132.50. Any members interested in working in any facility that is regulated under the Maritime Security Act should apply for this credential as soon as possible.

You can access the website that contains the information regarding TWIC by logging onto  www.tsa.gov/twic. We have been told that the registration fee may be tax deductible as this is a condition of employment at these work sites. Hold onto the receipt and present it to your accountant at tax time.
